Our History
Salida Hulling Association is a grower owned cooperative established in 1970 to provide quality almond hulling and shelling to our members. Built on a tradition of integrity, commitment to excellence and industry leadership, SHA currently has over 1oo owner-members and hulls and shells almonds from over 11,000 acres in Stanislaus County and surrounding areas.
Our Facilities
- In 2008 our co-op invested in a new, state-of-the-art plant. Salida Hulling has over 21,000 square feet of modern buildings and top of the line almond hulling and shelling equipment.
- We have invested in the latest in technology and utilize Almond Logic software to optimize operational efficiency in the plant and offer full product traceability to our members. Growers can use the online tool to track their almond crop, in real time, from when it is received on site, to where their almonds are in the hulling/shelling process and locate stockpiled almonds by GPS designation.
- With over 35 acres of stockpile area available, our facility can receive and accommodate peak season deliveries of field run almonds. We also offer an "off site" stockpile option for growers who wish to stockpile almonds on their own property.
Our People
- Having over 100 years of combined almond hulling and shelling experience, our staff has a high level of skill, knowledge, and passion for handling almonds in a way that ensures quality shelling while maximizing grower returns.
- Quality control personnel continually monitor growers almond runs throughout the hulling/shelling process. Representative samples from each load are kept in our lab for comparison checks of each delivered load of almonds.
